The City's plan describes how its neighbourhoods grew: Lincoln Park and Mary Hill from the 1950s onwards, Riverwood and Citadel Heights in the 1980s and 90s, and Dominion Avenue and Fremont more recently. In the 2021 census, more than a quarter of Port Coquitlam homes dated from 1961 to 1980.

Suites are common here. The City identified more than 3,000 secondary suites in 2020, and its rules now allow a coach house on a lot with a house as well. A two-household lot can go on one quote.

What we see

What Comes Up in Port Coquitlam Homes

Port Coquitlam's neighbourhoods went up in waves, from the 1950s houses of Mary Hill and Lincoln Park to the 1980s and 90s streets of Citadel Heights and Riverwood.

Suites on a shared furnace

In 2020 the City identified 3,038 secondary suites, and says the real number is likely higher. When a suite runs off the main furnace, both households' dust and cooking air travel through the same ducts. We clean the suite's vents in the same visit as the main floor.

Townhouse dryer vents

16% of Port Coquitlam homes are row houses or townhouses. In a townhouse the dryer vent can run a long way to an outside wall or the roof, and lint settles at every bend. If loads are taking longer to dry, the vent is the first thing to check, and you can book it on its own.

Houses from the 1950s to the 1970s

Mary Hill and Lincoln Park have houses from the 1950s onwards, and more than a quarter of the city's homes were built between 1961 and 1980. That's decades of dust drawn into the returns, plus drywall dust from any renovations. We clean the return side as carefully as the supply side, from the trunk line out to each branch.

Coach houses

City rules now allow a coach house of up to 90 square metres on a lot with a house. A coach house is a second home on the lot: if it has ducted heating, a bathroom fan or a dryer vent, those need cleaning too. We can quote it together with the main house.

Services

What Each Service Covers

Every home is quoted on its own: the vent count, whether the furnace is included, and how we reach the ducts. Any of these can go on one visit.

  • Air duct cleaning

Every supply and return vent, trunk line and branch, cleaned to NADCA's ACR Standard. A HEPA-filtered vacuum keeps the system under negative pressure while compressed-air tools loosen the dust, so it goes into the machine instead of your rooms.

Vent covers vs the ducts behind them
  • Furnace cleaning

We clean the blower motor, clear the burners and heat exchanger, and vacuum and wipe the cabinet and access panels. A dusty blower pushes dust straight back into clean ducts, so we suggest doing both in one visit.

    Furnace cleaning vs duct cleaning
  • Dryer vent cleaning

The lint trap only catches part of the lint. The rest builds up along the exhaust duct, most of all at the bends. We clean the full run to the outside wall, on its own or with your ducts.

  • Bathroom fan cleaning

Clears the dust out of the fan and its duct, so shower moisture leaves the room faster.

  • HRV cleaning

We clean the parts of a heat recovery ventilator most homeowners can't reach: the core, the internal fans, the drain pan and the ducts that connect it to the house.

HRV filters, core and what a pro adds
  • AC coil cleaning

Removes dust and buildup from the AC evaporator coil to help cooling performance. If your AC or heat pump shares the furnace ducts, the duct cleaning covers its vents.

Add-ons: disinfectant fogging with Benefect Decon 30 (Health Canada approved, plant-based), a second furnace, crawlspace, attic or under-slab ducts, and mobile or double-wide homes. Furnace filters aren't included, but if you have one on hand, the technician can swap it in.

When to book

Signs It's Time

The usual guideline is a duct cleaning every 3 to 5 years. Pets, renovations and damp coastal winters can bring that forward.

Your ducts

  • Dust is back on the vent covers within days of wiping them.
  • The house smells musty or stale when the furnace starts up.
  • Allergy symptoms get worse when the heat runs and ease when you leave the house.
  • There's been a renovation since the last cleaning, or you've just moved in.
  • You have pets that shed, someone smokes indoors, or it's been more than two years.

Your dryer vent

  • A normal load needs more than one cycle to dry.
  • The dryer or the laundry room gets unusually hot.
  • You notice a burning or musty smell when the dryer runs.
  • There's lint around the outside vent hood, or its flap stays shut while the dryer runs.

Before we arrive

How to Get Ready

Most single-furnace homes take 3 to 5 hours, and you'll need to be home so the crew can reach every room.

  • Clear about a metre around every floor and wall register.
  • Make sure the furnace and its filter slot are easy to reach.
  • Keep pets in a closed room or outside. Open register holes are a hazard for small animals.
  • Point out any register that smells musty or any room with weak airflow.
  • Plan calls around the noise: the vacuum runs about as loud as a shop vacuum.

What Happens on Your Port Coquitlam Visit

Here's the order a typical visit runs in.

A technician lifting a ceiling vent grille to reach the duct behind it
  1. Walkthrough and setup

The crew finds every register, checks the furnace area and connects the HEPA-filtered vacuum to the main trunk, which puts the whole system under negative pressure.

  2. Supply and return runs

Each supply and return duct is cleaned on its own: compressed-air tools loosen the dust and the vacuum pulls it out. This is the longest part of the job.

  3. Furnace and main trunk

The blower compartment, the area around the heat exchanger and the main trunk get cleaned, plus the furnace itself if it's on your quote.

  4. Registers and add-ons

Every register comes off, gets cleaned and goes back on. Any add-ons on your quote, like the dryer vent or bathroom fans, are done now.

  5. Final check and walk-through

We invite you to watch the final cleaning of the main trunk. The technician does a final visual check, secures every access point and goes over the work with you. You pay after the service.

Questions

Duct Cleaning in Port Coquitlam: Questions

Get a quote
How much does duct cleaning cost in Port Coquitlam?

Each Port Coquitlam home is priced on its own: the vent count, the furnace, any suite or coach house, and how we get to the ducts. Fill in the form and we text and email a written quote, usually within the hour. You pay once the work is done.

Do you clean dryer vents in Port Coquitlam?

Yes. A dryer vent can be booked on its own or added to a duct cleaning. If a normal load needs a second cycle to dry, a restricted vent is a common cause.

How close are you to PoCo?

Our office is at 407-552 Clark Road in Coquitlam, next door. We offer same-day service when our schedule allows. Send the quote form and we'll reply with availability, usually within the hour.

My house has a basement suite. Do you clean both?

Yes. With more than 3,000 suites in the city, it's a common setup. If the suite is on the main furnace we clean everything in one visit; if it has its own, list it on the form and we'll price both.

Is vent cleaning the same as duct cleaning?

Not exactly. Washing the vent covers removes what you can see. The buildup that matters is further in, along the supply and return ducts, and that's what a duct cleaning takes out, covers included.

Can you clean a coach house on the same visit?

Yes. List it on the quote form with what it has: ducted heating, a bathroom fan, a dryer vent. We price it with the main house and clean both in one visit.

Do you do furnace cleaning in Port Coquitlam?

Yes. We clean the blower motor, clear the burners and heat exchanger, and vacuum and wipe the cabinet. A dusty blower pushes dust back into clean ducts, so it makes sense to do the furnace in the same visit.
